Our new Pope

It was a thrill to watch the white smoke footage Wednesday in the Vatican before our new pope was announced. Hail Saint Ignatius (founder of the Jesuit order of priests); he must be proud to see our first Jesuit Pope, Saint Francis. He was born Jorge Mario Bergoglio. Pope Francis is one of many firsts including the first Pope from the Americas (Argentina). He, a humble man from a working class family, boldly asserted yesterday that the Church needs to be re-built. What will this mean for our Church? Will the Church finally allow birth control or married men and/or women to become priests? We shall see!

I can only pray that he stays a traditionalist. Society is forcing changes that aren’t necessarily meant to be challenged and altered.
I think in order for us to survive, we must adapt. Clearly, the way the Church has been handling matters has not been working. Pope Francis said the Church needs to be rebuilt, and he is right!
